What is Model UN?

Model UN, or MUN, is a simulation of the United Nations. The United Nations is a multinational body with 193 member states who are engaged at reducing global inequality, promote international cooperation, and maintain order within the world. To discharge this responsibility, the United Nations has a number of different committees and programs that are designed to debate the key issues and then discharge their responsibility. In MUN, your role comes in discussion the key issues and creating innovative solutions to these problems. As a MUN delegate, you will take on the position of a delegate of a country in a committee, such as the delegate for Norway in DISEC. You act as an ambassador for the country, you speak in line with the country's position, and you attempt to ensure that any resolution that is made is broadly in line with your country's policy.

Skills learnt

By doing MUN, you will get to develop your skills in:

  • Negotiation;
  • Policy Writing;
  • Public Speaking;
  • Research Skills; and
  • Networking with different nationalities.

i'm a first timer, IS AMUNC RIGHT FOR ME?

AMUNC is the perfect conference for first timers. We have plenty of great committees for anyone who has never done a MUN before, including our General Assemblies. In addition, all of our directors have been selected and trained in understanding the concerns of first timers, with skills in ensuring that your voice is heard. We're also running a training session to ensure that you know the basics before you go into debate. Finally, the skills you develop over AMUNC will be considerably more than any other conference in the region due to it's length and intensity.
